The horror novel that I did illustrations for, \u201cSchoolhouse Horror Story, Wednesday,\u201d will be on sale soon, so I thought I\u2019d take the opportunity to talk about the game \u201cSchoolhouse Horror Story\u201d!<\/p>\n

\u3010Schoolhouse Horror Story\u3011<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an unusual sort of horror visual novel style game in which you listen to the scary stories told by 6 individual narrators as part of the planning process for your high school\u2019s newspaper; then something happens in the seventh one. It will include everything from grotesque horror stories to comedic scenarios.<\/p>\n

The game it\u2019s based on was originally released for the SNES. They\u2019re now offering a paid download version for smartphones.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>
\nI drew the characters involved with VN GakuKowa. This is all of them. Click the picture to see a larger version. <\/p>\n

<\/img><\/p>\n

Shindou Makoto<\/p>\n

An older-brotherly third year whose way of speaking makes him sound a bit like a hoodlum.<\/p>\n

\u30fbHe looks dependable, but had a very chilly personality in the first version of GakuKowa.
\n\u30fbA good big brother in the PlayStation version.
\n\u30fbHe\u2019ll talk about how he likes sports, but then he\u2019ll tell stories that put off everybody from playing them just so he can smirk at their reactions.<\/p>\n

\u30fbPersonally, I\u2019m kind of on the fence about the SNES version of his character.
\n\u30fbCompared to \u2191, VN version Shindou is more of a reliable, sporty boy.<\/p>\n

<\/img><\/p>\n

Arai Shouji<\/p>\n

A moody boy who doesn\u2019t let others get too close. His scary stories sow trauma in the player\u2019s heart<\/p>\n

\u30fbIn spite of the way he looks, he has friends in each location and possesses pretty impressive communication skills.
\n\u30fbHe\u2019s also a member of the soccer club.<\/p>\n

<\/img><\/p>\n

Kazama Nozomu<\/p>\n

A tall, nice guy who tells deathly boring stories (seriously, they\u2019ll kill you). No one knows his true identity.<\/p>\n

\u30fbHe bums change off the main character, kidnaps people, tries to get married, tries to fit in, and the second he knows you\u2019re not his friend, he attacks. He\u2019s actually a pretty dangerous guy.<\/p>\n

Hosoda Tomoharu<\/p>\n

A large-boned character who tells only bathroom stories. He obsessively tries to make friends.<\/p>\n

Iwashita Akemi<\/p>\n

A black-haired beauty who tells stories about sordid relationships.<\/p>\n

\u30fbThe scary thing about her is that she uses the main character to screw with the player\u2019s head. Even when you\u2019re using game functions that should be safe\u2026
\n\u30fbBasically, if this character doesn\u2019t like you, terrible things will happen to you. But terrible things happen even if she likes you, so\u2026<\/p>\n

Fukuzawa Reiko<\/p>\n

A girl who\u2019s really in touch with trends and tells grotesque horror stories in a cheerful manner. According to the main character, she\u2019s \u201ca bit of a snob.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sakagami Shuichi<\/p>\n

Bad things keep happening to this 156 cm (5\u20191) tall character thanks to the person above.<\/p>\n

Hino Sempai<\/p>\n

An upperclassman member of the newspaper club who always brings weird snacks. In most of the routes, he\u2019s a wonderful character who\u2019s good at taking care of others. The glasses he wears in the first graphic of the game are kinda huge.<\/p>\n

It seems that he\u2019s single in the VN era of the game.<\/p>\n

\u2026Wait a minute; all this stuff doesn\u2019t explain anything, does it?<\/p>\n
